ROBERT DELEO On ARMY OF ANYONE: This Is 'Proudest I've Been Of Any Of The Work I've Done'

August 4, 2006

Former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bassist Robert DeLeo has issued the following update on ARMY OF ANYONE, his new band also featuring FILTER's Richard Patrick (vocals),ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist Dean DeLeo (Robert's brother) and ex-DAVID LEE ROTH drummer Ray Luzier:

"First off, I would like to apologize for taking so much time to reach out to all of you. Secondly, I want to send some serious love to all who have been involved in following the journey of ARMY OF ANYONE. I am very touched by the response you have given our musical efforts. I say that equally to STP fans, FILTER fans and new ones alike. After all we named this band around ALL of us.... ARMY OF ANYONE. We are all invited!!!

"I have to say it has been a very challenging time for us both personally and professionally to get to the point of having you all finally experience the first song, 'Goodbye'. This has definitely been a strengthening time in our lives. We have learned a lot about ourselves and each other with the making of a friendship, musical connection, recording, sobriety, the birth of my and Dean's sons, and simply, the world around us. We have turned an 'idea' into a mutual love and respect for each other. That is sometimes a very hard thing to do.

"Believe me, I've tried in the past to embrace the idea of a band only to repeatedly succumb to it. We are doing this simply because we WANT to. Isn't that what we all should be doing it for?

"We are VERY anxious for you to hear the entire collection of songs we have put together for this CD. I am not going to say this is our best work, but it is the proudest I've been of any of the work I've done. The same pride I have for people like all of you. I guess what I'm trying to say is... Richard, Dean, Ray and myself feel very fortunate to have such awesome people like yourselves out there. It means a lot! We look forward to hearing (and seeing) you all soon."

As previously reported, AOL Music is currently streaming "Goodbye", the first single from ARMY OF ANYONE, at this location (scroll down to bottom of article).

ARMY OF ANYONE recently signed a deal with the new artist-friendly label launched by The Firm.

The new music company, with records to be distributed by EMI Music in the U.S. and licensed for territories around the globe, will take the unprecedented step of splitting all profits with the artists signed to the venture rather than the traditional royalty structure. ARMY OF ANYONE and multi-platinum recording artist and actress MANDY MOORE are the first to sign to the company.

ARMY OF ANYONE's debut album was produced by Bob Ezrin, the mastermind behind PINK FLOYD's "The Wall" and ALICE COOPER's early hits, and was mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, SLAYER, KORN, DISTURBED, LIMP BIZKIT).

Patrick had previously stated about the new group: "I hope that fans of both FILTER and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will be as ecstatic about the music as I am. Although it is not the album you were expecting from me, I'm confident that you'll be very pleased with the result. FILTER will always be close to my heart, but ARMY OF ANYONE is my priority right now."
